As head of global marketing and communications, Tiffany Spencer manages marketing for the firm and its investors. She also works closely with BVP-funded startups around the world providing both strategic counsel and tactical support on communications and marketing initiatives. It’s a role she loves.
After working with several of the “big guys” (companies like Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Nike, Phillips and Samsung) Tiffany realized that her heart was in working with the little guys: young companies with great teams and amazing products, eager to put their stamp on the world.
She hung out a shingle and went to work as a launch strategist. In her work for early stage startups, she reimagined the launches she designed for "big guys" with big budgets, to match the goals and fit the budgets of the young companies she worked with. Her clients came from a broad range of B2B and B2C technology sectors including mobile, consumer Internet, online retail, finance, hardware, development tools and augmented reality. She even designed and executed a record-setting Kickstarter campaign for OUYA which raised a $8.6M in 28 days, surpassing the company’s $980K target. (In fact, they raised $2M on the first day.)
Over the course of her career, Tiffany has launched hundreds of products and dozens of companies. She credits the years spent launching video games for companies like Electronic Arts and Ubisoft for refining her launch strategy skills. She began her career at Edelman Worldwide, the largest independent public relations firm, where she specialized in Internet startups and was a member of the three-person team that founded Edelman’s West Coast Consumer Technology Practice. Tiffany graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Rhetoric. She is also a published illustrator.
