
Biography
Munish Mittal is an operating advisor and the former Group Head – IT and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of HDFC Bank, one of India’s largest and most respected financial institutions. With a career spanning more than two decades at the bank, Munish was instrumental in shaping the bank’s IT strategy, overseeing technological initiatives for HDFC Bank and its subsidiaries, including HDFC Securities and HDB Financial Services.
During his tenure, Munish oversaw major advancements in AI/ML, cloud-first architectures, DevOps practices, API modernization, real-time data analytics, and proactive monitoring systems, helping position HDFC Bank as a technology leader in financial services.
Beyond his corporate leadership, Munish is a recognized thought leader in the fintech ecosystem. He frequently served as a jury member for prestigious innovation awards and was a sought-after speaker at leading industry and academic forums, where he shared insights on digital banking, IT leadership, and the future of financial services. His visionary approach to leveraging technology for business growth has earned him numerous accolades, including induction into the CIO Choice Hall of Fame.
Today, Munish continues to advise fintech founders and financial institutions on building scalable, resilient technology platforms that drive growth and innovation. He holds an undergraduate degree from Panjab University Chandigarh and a Masters in Business Administration from IGNOU. He currently resides in London, England.
