Michael MacFadden

Biography

Michael is a seasoned technical executive with over 20 years of experience building, acquiring, and scaling technology companies across multiple domains.

He currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at Sigma Defense Systems, a leading defense technology company. During his tenure, the company has more than tripled in size, growing to over 800 employees with operations spanning 40 states and three continents. At Sigma, Michael focuses on modernizing legacy systems through automation, agentic software development, and the integration of AI technologies.

Michael is also a serial entrepreneur in the software space, having built and successfully exited multiple technology companies. He brings extensive experience as a technical advisor to high-growth small and mid-market companies, as well as to family offices, private equity, and venture capital firms.

He holds a B.S. in Software Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an M.S. in Computer Science from San Diego State University, with a focus on machine learning. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Cyber Operations at Dakota State University, specializing in the application of artificial intelligence to cloud-native cybersecurity.

Michael is a certified commercial pilot and flight instructor and volunteers as an instructor pilot with the United States Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol.
