Biography
Brittany is an operating advisor at Bessemer and a founding partner at Backbone Angels, an angel collective aimed at providing more opportunities to Women and non-binary founders.
Prior to Backbone Angels, she was the chief talent officer at Shopify where she built the talent function from the ground up, growing a team of 20 employees to a global team of over 10,000. During her time at Shopify she was integral to their IPO in 2015, international expansion (opening offices in Toronto, Waterloo, San Francisco, Berlin, Sweden, Vilnius, and more), and managed the acquisition and successful integration of eight global companies.
Brittany earned her BA from Carleton University and an executive MBA from Harvard Business School. Outside of nerding out on humans and mentoring founders, you can generally find her on the move. She has a passion for travel, adventure, and new learnings.
