Powering India’s digital learning revolution with Seekho
Bessemer Venture Partners leads Seekho’s $28 million Series B round to democratize microlearning for millions of Indians nationwide.
With 800 million smartphone users, an average of eight hours spent online, and the introduction of frictionless online payments, almost all aspects of life in India have undergone a digital transformation - from buying groceries to financial transactions. With Seekho, Indians now have next-level learning at their fingertips as well.
Named after the literal translation ‘to learn’ in Hindi, Seekho is an e-learning platform combining education and entertainment to empower Indians with “edutainment” — AI-powered, interactive, and mobile-friendly content — making microlearning accessible nationwide. Seekho is carving a unique space as India’s first edutainment OTT platform, or “Netflix for learning,” delivering 10,000+ short-form videos in Hindi and other local languages. The content focuses on practical knowledge for career and self-growth, including guidance on utilizing digital services, growing an Instagram or YouTube presence, enhancing business operations, language learning, self-improvement, and more — all of which is available via monthly and annual subscriptions.
How Seekho is raising the bar for accessible learning in India
Given smartphone usage in India, the market is primed now more than ever for Seekho’s growth as the demand among consumers willing to pay for content is being driven by rising disposable income in a growing economy and the expansion of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) Autopay. What was once limited to credit card users in India, UPI Autopay has now widened the subscription economy compared to just a few years ago. As a result, subscription revenues have gone from near-negligible levels to a $2.5 billion pool today — and Seekho is set to capitalize on this number.
Seekho’s unique advantage comes from its customer centricity, catering to the heterogeneous needs of its users. After connecting with over 2,000 of them and meeting almost 50 in person, their shared experiences were telling. From a real estate agent who learned how to scale inbound leads for his business through Meta to one customer learning to facilitate Aadhar linkage (India’s biometric identity system) for their entire extended family — it’s clear that Seekho is making an impact on various audiences throughout India.
The Seekho team has just scratched the surface of what can be built, as they focus on unlocking new learning categories and languages. We’re proud to partner with cofounders Rohit Choudhary (CEO), Keertay Agarwal (COO), and Yash Banwani (CTO), as we’re confident in their journey to make education more accessible for Indians.
